Tracy Alvarez is the Vice President of Medical Care Solutions at Blue Shield of California, a nearly 6 million-member, nonprofit health plan that serves the state’s commercial, individual, and government markets. Tracy leads a department of approximately 1100 people dedicated to improving health outcomes for members by focusing on whole-person health, embedding in local communities, and developing strong partnerships with providers. Tracy and her team work to give Blue Shield members the tools and support they need to take charge of their health, whether that is high-tech, high-touch or a combination of both.

Tracy is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of managed health care experience. As a member of Blue Shield’s Health Solutions senior leadership team, she contributes to the company’s overall strategy and goals by providing consistent, innovative leadership and direction on the design, implementation, analysis, monitoring and reporting of effective and efficient health management services across all product lines.

Tracy is a Northern California native and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis. A passion for health care runs in her family – both of her daughters are registered nurses with one working at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and one at Oakland Children's Hospital in California. Tracy and her husband enjoy living on the California delta and any type of water sport!
